Ten Tips to Downsize
✅ Ask for Help: Moving is not easy and you shouldn’t do it all yourself.
✅ Pack a ‘Survival’ Bag for Move Day: Personal needs, kitchen needs, cleaning supplies, etc.
✅ Floor Plan Ahead: Knowing which pieces will fit in your new space will keep you from moving too much furniture.
✅ Recycle the Toxins: What to do with old paint and cleaning supplies? Check with local landfills or waste management services. For additional information visit the EPA Household Hazardous Waste website.

✅ Use it up, Don’t Move it out: Try to use up as much food as you can, to avoid having to take it with you.
✅ New Looks for Books: Books are heavy and take up a lot of space. Consider donating or selling at a used bookstore, tag or auction sale.
✅ Save your memories: Digitize your photos with digitizing software (often free). Write your own biography incorporating photos and using resources that can be found on the Internet, hobby shops or book stores.
✅ Get Generous: You can’t take everything you own to your new home. Now is the time to make arrangements to gift some of your treasures to special people in your life.
